A LOOK AT LIFE-17
A LOOK AT LIFE-17
BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY
I do not know
who are they
Who brought me to this world
and left me all alone
to fight a lone battle
under the scorching heat of the sun
and pears of the shower
I do not know
What a mother is
and a father all about.
I am far away from the touch of
human relationships,
the lovely bondage of family
and all those that make life
a beauty on earth
Sometimes l look at them,
their fascinating world,
lovely gadgets
and the ocean of love
that bathes them
every now and then.
I see
how carefree and jubilant
they are,
completely lost
in the perennial stream of love
and delicate care,
dreaming all the way
for a still better tomorrow to come by.
I never envy,
nor do I regret
the lost childhood,
father's shadow and mother's lap.
All do I need and fancy
a bit of your love,
a bit of your affection
and a bit of everything you have
for kids of your own,
to grow and develop
and make life more bearable
On this unbearable earth.
