SOMETHING I LOOK AT-135
SOMETHING I LOOK AT-135
BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY
THE MAHATMA
Mahatma
Not merely a word
Not even a noun or adjective
He is the pulse of a nation
Cause of million smiles
And a ray of light in utter darkness
He was not a man
But an institution
An ocean in a drop of water.
He is our Bapu
The beats of a thousand hearts
The hopes of millions of people
Fighting against violence, injustice and fanaticism from across the world
He is the father of the nation
Who proved nothing is impossible
If one is committed to truth and nonviolence, practice it in thought, words and deeds,
means what he says,
remains the same
both inside and outside
The problem is not with his ideology
It still holds good, still the same as it was
The problem is with us
We are not pure,
true to ourselves
We say something which we are not actually
Hypocrisy is our biggest weapon with which
We fight and hope to win the battle of life
To the Mahatma
No goal is as important as the means
All through his life, he made no compromises
With what he held high
Truth, nonviolence and peace.
To be a Mahatma is not easy
To be free from hypocrisy, hatred, jealousy and negativity in all its forms is a yogi's dream.
We have a million problems
Coz we are not his worthy successors
Coz we see the goals not the means
Coz we accepted Gandhiji but forgot the values for which he fought for.
We do not understand him
What to follow his teachings?
The moment one starts following his footsteps he will be himself,
a man in the pursuit of all that is best.
