SOMETHING I LOOK AT-96

Image
SOMETHING LOOK AT-96 BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY I AM A WIDOW  Do i need to be told what to do, what not to, how should I look, what to wear, what to eat, how to interact and conduct  in this heartless world of yours? For you he was just another man, a friend in the fair weather. You have lost just a friend. Do you know what have I  lost? I have lost my whole world. With him gone my wishes, my passions to live a life. But I am breathing, breathing for the sake of his love to keep him alive  Have you ever fathomed  a woman's love for her husband. No man has ever been able to do so and you are just another of the same species. You can never understand what he meant to me. I don't even expect you to understand. Lett me live with my tears. They are exclusively mine. Let them drench me with all his colours. Even at the cost of the world, its wealth and splendour I can hardly part with it, part with my emotions, my feelings, half of my heart and soul. Do you doubt ...

A LOOK AT LIFE-60

A LOOK AT LIFE-60 BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY         I AM RAVAN Look at me I am Ravan, a bundle of negative feelings and emotion I don't have a friend which I can say my own I have a family, wife, kids and a kingdom  But my only friend, my love,  is my inflated ego I invariably carry it with me wherever I go In all my pursuits I seek its satisfaction The mainstay of my life is ego and it's gratification On ego stands greed, hatred and jealousy  Treachery, dishonesty and malice And I am an epitome of all these  Throughout life, I remained in their constant company. Family, relationship, love and religion are beautiful till they satisfy one's ego and vanity. When one's ego is hurt nothing remains his  The ego becomes his only religion, love and life And I am no exception to all this. Ego defines me and my surrounding  It is ego that pushes me hard  It is ego that made me what I am An island in myself  Where I live my life in ...

A LOOK AT LIFE-59

A LOOK AT LIFE-59 BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY          IN LOVE WITH LIFE Of what use  Living the rest of life Regretting all the while for what one has not achieved. Of what use  Going down the memory lane Lamenting those days and nights Which one missed Being engrossed in mundane deeds. Of what use Cursing oneself  For running away from life its rhythm and rhyme  Making a hell of the present and the days to come by No question Life could have been lot better  If one would have understood The value of relationship and flight of time. Most of us lived life Not the way it should have been  Not the way one wished But by one's perception of fulfillment  The values of society Largely defined in terms of  Recognition, power  and money. Where your kid's smile, parent's tears  And wife's longing never seemed to have any meaning. From childhood to the fifties Nobody knows how time flies. All of a sudden one finds He is...

A LOOK AT LIFE-58

A LOOK AT LIFE-58 BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY       MISTAKE OF A LIFE I know not how many minutes and hours, days, months and years, I have spent in meaningless pursuits, in proving myself, in proving I am not at par but head and shoulders above others. I know not how many times I turned my back to truth and bliss. How many times I failed to understand love and it's beauty, someone's tears, sacrifices, hours of waiting  and longing for me. I know hardly I lived my life for me. It was for those significant others whom I valued the most, in seeking their appreciation and recognition who themselves achieved nothing, lived the whole of their life in illusion, in a pseudo world with pseudo greatness and pseudo satisfaction I lived a life in acquiring pelf and power, laurels and accolades, adding to my inflated ego, proving before others  I am unique and different and don't belong  to the same species to which others belong My Lord! How far away I am from me,...

A LOOK-149

Image
A LOOK-149 You know me,  I know you and our friendship, the bond we share in between, is beyond space and time. You love me. I love you. Do we need anyone to define it, Acknowledge it, give it a name To ride on it. The thread that binds you and me   Is above all relationships. Very few know what it is Very few are aware of it It is beyond their vision and perception. Critical appreciation of my poem Something I Look At-43

Image
Here is the critical appreciation of my poem "SOMETHING I LOOK AT-43" by non-other than eminent poet and internationally acclaimed literally critic Prof Cijo Joseph Chennelil.   Thanks and gratitude sir for your brilliant interpretation of the poem Dear Smruti Ranjaniji, Something I Look At-43" is a poem that narrates about a world which is in the whirlpool of tensions, worries and concerns from one end to the next. The poem commences with an optimistic note wherein this world is described as a world of pure joy and happiness, the human beings in this world enjoy life in an overwhelming manner day in and day out. This world is also suffused with many amenities and facilities and we all live in the comfort zones of this world. This world also can be termed as a paradise because of the comfort level, people come across this world. But the rosy picture of this world is countered by a reality check regarding the real status of this world in relation to values, ideologies an...

SOMETHING I LOOK AT-48

Image
SOMETHING I LOOK AT-48 BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY History tells the consequences of war with  no one  emerging a complete winner, the victor and the vanquished losing the game one way or other. It is the humanity that is the greatest loser and the force inimical to man and  his development the ultimate victor If one is to wage a war, it Is to be against oneself, his negative emotions and instincts, against pride and prejudice, hatred and jealousy, poverty and illiteracy, regionalism and religious fanaticism, parochialism, economic disparity and all those forces that divide and put artificial  barriers between man and man  nation and nation, region and region. The battle is for a better tomorrow, a new world order, more just and egalitarian where people have the opportunity to develop in an atmosphere of freedom and peace to become themselves. To fight the battle, one does not need a gun, but a pair of eyes that sees no disparity, a heart  that beats for...
